Yes, I went back to work yesterday. It was a bit overwhelming working after being off for surgery, but I feel that did pretty well.
I was very worried what other's might think or say.
Sigh, A trip to the dollar general store on Sunday would put me in contact with the most obnoxious woman I have ever come in contact with.
The place was busy with at least 5 customers in line. One person had already yelled at the solo cashier asking her to call for assistance since the line was almost to the back of the store (this was a lie itself, but I digress). I get the few things I need and make my way to my place in line and most everyone was pleasant. This woman comes up behind me grumbling and complaining with all the items in her hands saying that her ice cream was going to melt if they didn't hurry up. I smiled at her and said, no it won't melt, it will only be a few minutes more. Then she looked at me and said (very loudly) "What the H happened to you?" Startled I looked back at her and realized she was referring to the patch over my eye. I smiled and said "I had eye surgery". She was very loud, very nosy and I finally said I did not wish to discuss it with her and she called me a name and said I was rude.
Then the clerk took my items and rang me up (apologizing for the rude customer the whole time) and he even offered to help me with my items to my vehicle. I said "No Thanks" and went about my way.
So My first day back at the bank, most folks said nothing other than asking if I was in a car accident. One lady that came through our drive through also used the same verbiage as Dollar General chic and I just looked at her, said, "I am fine, how can I help you?" in order to shut her down.
And for the record, you don't cause a retinal detachment in 90 percent of cases. It just happens with age and some are more likely to have it happen than others. I am sick of people asking that question like I caused this to happen to me. People, please do your OWN research and don't ask silly questions!!
I am starting to see more and more each day and for that I am most thankful.
There is NO gift under a silly tree that will make me happy this year. My blessings of sight and a healthy family are all I need. You won't see me bragging about a gift or fussing because something is the wrong size. I am choosing contentment this year.
