Who uses their kitchen table for meals?
Who really uses that table as a catch all for mail, stuff to take to work or whatever?
Who rarely eats at that table?
I can think of many things that happened at the kitchen table in my parents home. We had nightly meals together once Daddy got home from work. Lots of homework was done at that table by my sisters and I as well as our own children and grandchildren now.
I sat at a kitchen table in White Bluff 6 years ago with 2 friends and planned a Women's Expo to be held as a fundraiser for the kids at that church to attend summer camp.
I have sat at a kitchen island having coffee/tea with my friend in Burns while she made homemade marshmallows or prepared a meal for her family. (She is a great counselor, listener and dear friend.)
I sat at a table in a friends home while she taught us how to single crochet to make a potholder. That my friends was my re-introduction to the world of crochet and after all these years, I finally have a hobby again that makes something useful!
I sat at my parent's table last night crocheting with mom and talking about what colors go together and projects we both have going on. I ran out of purple yarn for a granny square I was working on, and so I tied it off and put it away. Then mom, handed me one of hers to work on, she didn't want me to not have anything to do.
I have used the kitchen table as a make-shift desk to get candle orders put into the system on a deadline and even wrapped presents on the kitchen table (once I cleared it off of course).
We may have desks and other places to do things, but It sure seems like that kitchen table is a gathering spot for some great things and where some great things have started over the years.
I thought of all this while I was driving home from Mom/Dad's last night and I am thankful for all these kitchen table memories.
I hope all of you have a blessed Sunday and spread a little (or a lot) of kindness as you go through the day.
