You see that all over social media and if you deal with the public, you hear it from your customers all day long.
I have worked jobs that are 7 days a week and 5 day a week jobs. Either way, it is still work and just another day on the calendar.
Time is fleeting and passes us by very quickly. I suppose that is why humans have so many ways to mark the passage of time (clocks, calendars, gadgets, etc.)
11 days into the new year and I can say that every night I have worked on at least one crochet project and photographed my progress.
I usually find the yarn and purchase the yarn for the colors or what I envision in my mind and then I figure out later which pattern or who I plan to gift the item to.
I have yarn right now on my shelf that in my mind, I know what I am making with that yarn, but I am not starting any new projects with deadlines until I get some items from late last year completed (or at least further along).
For me, I usually focus on one project for a week and then alternate to something else. Last week I was very determined to finish this Corner to Corner throw and stayed up until the wee hours of Sunday morning to complete it. At that time I wanted to shout from the rooftops that I had completed a project, I however, Did not do this as my neighborhood and husband would frown on me doing that. LOL
After completing this project, I picked up another work in progress from 2018 and started working on it. However, This one had a very different ending. I had worked on it off and on and while I loved the colors and the softness of the yarn, I was not in love with the project itself. It was really bringing me down. So I frogged it. (that means took it apart in crochet-speak). I went to my table, and hooked up the yarn to my trusty yarn-winder and unwound the whole project, now all that is left is the yarn itself. I labeled it, stored it in a plastic zip storage bag and it will either be sold, given away or eventually worked at a later time. I had a huge feeling of relief once I completely tore this project apart.
I find lots of life lessons in crafting/crochet. This recent project is a prime example of cutting things out of your life that don't bring you joy. While I cannot bring myself to throw away this yarn (I know way too many friends that use this particular size), I know it is not for me to do at this time.
I also have great joy in my crochet times with Mom. About every other week, I go over there and we compare notes on colors that go together, and colors that don't and I help her get a few projects started. We even made a couple of pictures the other night when I was over there. We did not plan the wardrobe matching, but it did.
All my life I have been told that I look just like my mother, I didn't see the resemblance until the past few years. Once I got this recent hairdo, the first thing I thought as I looked in the mirror was that I look just like mom. :)
I wish all of my readers peace for 2019 and love! Show love, share love, be the love we read about in the Bible. However you pass your time, I hope it brings you joy and that the memories you make are joyful.
