My heart was heavy last night for all the teachers, parents, students and school staff that were facing a new year in the midst of a pandemic. I prayed and paced the floor until I finally decided to get some sleep.
I woke up to photos of my sister's children ready for their first day of school and my other sister's children first day of home school. Each family chooses to do what is best for their own family and we celebrate each and every milestone.

When I was younger, I truly enjoyed back to school time because it meant new notebooks and supplies and a new year at the school. I was one of those kids that loved school and loved to learn. This year is a bit odd in that I have not gone to the school supply aisle just to browse. If I enter a store, I have a list and I make quick work of being in the store and get out to my car as fast as I can with as little contact as possible.
Tonight's dinner at the Parish Homestead is Chicken Rice Casserole. It seems funny to talk about dinner plans but I think half of an adults worry every day is what are we cooking for dinner. My husband is pulling extra shifts this week at the factory so I will be doing most of the cooking. I am one that needs a plan and sets things out early so I know I have all the ingredients.
