Last week without warning we had no running water here in the house at 2 am in the morning. I checked every water outlet and nothing was coming out other than a very light trickle of water.
I knew I had paid the water bill, so I figured they were working on the water line or somewhere on our street had a busted water pipe.
I said my evening prayers and went to bed. When David woke up to go to work, the water was still off and I pulled out some containers of water that we had stored and he had room temperature water to brush his teeth and get ready for work.
I got up, made some coffee and checked the water frequently wondering what was going on. We would find out later that indeed the city had been working on a water line near our house.
About an hour after he left for work, the faucets, toilet, shower all started making gurgling noises. I excitedly turned on the bathroom faucet and it sputtered at first then the water came through like it had before. I then checked the shower and got a mini shower on my head because I didn't know the shower head was turned on as well.
I then walked into the kitchen and turned on the water and no water came out other than a trickle. We had always had issues with the kitchen faucet so I really didn't think too much about it. I sent David a text message letting him know what was going on and went about my day.
Next, David would tighten some fittings on our kitchen faucet and we finally had water coming through the kitchen faucet. The flow was low and slow and it took what seemed like a long time to fill up a sauce pan or coffee pot. We dealt with that for 4-5 days and I was getting more and more frustrated and REALLY did NOT want to call the landlord about it.
Then, all of a sudden I thought what if there is a fix that is on www.youtube.com?
So I got on my phone and found a video showing our exact problem with a similar faucet/sprayer fixture. I watched the video then ran to the kitchen hoping it would work for our problem. It did!
All I had to do was take off the sprayer head and clean out the filter. Then I put it all back together and we have a strong stream of water in the kitchen in both hot/cold water. I was so proud of myself that I figured it out.
I am sure my husband thought I had lost my mind as I was dancing around the living room because we had good running water in the kitchen again. He celebrated with me and even said he was proud of me for getting it fixed.
As I ran water this morning for coffee, I thought about all the other things in our lives that get clogged up. You can have a blood clot and not know it until it causes a stroke or heart attack (yes I watch a lot of Dr. G Medical Examiner).
My point is, what do you have in your life that is blocking you from getting better? Do you have a stronghold in your life that keeps you from worshipping God or thanking him daily for your blessings?
If you are complaining/whining about your job or something you have, God is not going to bless you with more until you choose to be content and thankful with what you have.
Matthew 25:21 (Parable of the Talents)
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Friends, check your pipes/filters/faucets and check your strongholds. You might find a few things that need to be removed or cleaned away so that you may have a closer relationship with God.
