Gray Mondays and Coffee!

It is a gray Monday here in the Volunteer State. We have threat of tornadoes coming later today and if not for my weather watching friend in East TN, I would not have known anything about it.

I don't watch the news before work, I do not allow myself to sit down and get distracted in the mornings. I like my sleep and get up at the last possible moment, get ready and out the door and usually either take coffee with me or stop to get some on the drive to work.

You know, neither of us watch the news on a regular basis. I personally just don't want to be drowning in the negative mess that is all over the local and national news. And these days, with Social Media, lots of the news reaches my feed on facebook anyway, no reason to hear it twice.

In my crochet corner, I decided to close my etsy shop, It was costing me money to have items listed there and I am just not big enough or good enough with my stitching to expect to sell anything. I do not want the high pressure of making something for a customer and it having to be exactly perfect. I am thankful for family and friends who like what I have created and that is fine by me.

My current large project is a Corner to Corner Afghan for the bed. The color is called Grape Jelly and it includes 5 different shades of purple in one large ball of yarn. At this time I am on the 7th Big Caron Cake to finish this project. I have also added at least 3 skeins of solid purple yarn in varying shades to fill in the gaps when I ran out of the specific color I needed to make this look like what I had envisioned in January.

I have lots of works in progress (we call them wips):
Blue/Green Shell Stitch Throw
Blanket for Sydney in Purple, White and Hot Pink (her B-day is in April)
A Shawl in neutral shades
and a Granny Square in shades of blue/Brown using Caron Chunky Cake.

Yes I start and stop for various reasons but I am ok with this. I set a goal date of March 29th for finishing the Purple Afghan because it is a special day to me. It looks like I will finish ahead of schedule.

And, yes, In case you were wondering if any house work was done over the weekend. I did the dishes, ran the laundry, watched TV and had a Michael's run as well as a grocery store trip as well as worked on my projects this past weekend.

The most important accomplishment is that I cooked dinner yesterday. Usually Sunday is when David cooks but I had an idea and it turned out pretty good. I baked chicken, portobello mushrooms and made a mushroom sauce and put all this over rice for our dinner last night. It turned out really good and I was so happy. There was even enough for both of us to take leftovers for lunch today if we chose to.

I hope all of you have a great day! I am drinking my coffee, eating my ham, cheese, egg biscuit and even changed out the melts in my warmer here at work.
