As women, most of us take care of others in our homes and families and rarely take (or make) the time to take care of themselves.
"You cannot fill from an empty cup"
To me, this simply means we must take care of ourselves so we can better care for others. This is how/why caregivers burn out.
Not sure what you do during your quiet "me" time, but for me, I find a quiet morning with my candles burning, a hot cup of coffee and my crochet nearby is very calming for me. I also add praise music in the background to center my mind and get my mind set for the day.
Since the shut down the thing I missed most was being able to meet with my church family.
Our pastor starting recording lessons and uploading them to our church YouTube channel. I used these lessons as a time of personal Bible Study at home. I watched the video, took notes and flipped through my Bible to follow along (just like I would in services). I then put on some praise/worship music and focused on what is most important.
I am sharing this only to give an example that anyone can study the Bible at home if they choose to.
As I think about the ages of my children, It occurs to me that I am getting closer and closer to turning 50. I am not upset about getting older because most of the time, I don't even think about my age. I am considering what I should do (if anything) to celebrate my birthday this year. A dear friend has suggested a road trip with a few girl friends. It is all up in the air right now of course, but as we get closer, I will figure out something to do.
Some other ways to practice self-care:
Exercise
Take a Nap
Hot Bath
Meditation
Baking ( I know several that consider this relaxing)
Call a friend
Crafts (sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, crochet, etc.)
Many other things
I pray that All of us find peace and continue to be kind to others.
